Kymera Dance is a new repertory dance company that had its premier in February,2012. The season will feature two world premieres by choreographers William Isaac and Amy Hall Garner. Isaac is a Bessie award winner whose performing credits include Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Alonzo King's Lines Ballet, Armitage Gone! Dance, and the Ballet de Lorraine. He has had the opportunity to work with and study under the best directors in dance and theater, from being assistant choreographer for the Tony award winning Broadway show Passing Strange to working with Francesca Zambello on Handel's Alcina with the New York City Opera. His new work deals with relationships and how they sharpen or lose focus over time, hence the title "Aperture of Time".He will be using music by American composer John Luther Adams, whose work has been described thusly: "It is impressive to imagine anyone actually following such conceptual virtuosity, much less creating the seamless". Lawrence Vittes of Gramophone. This new work will create the feeling of sailing onto a new world through Isaac's unique blending of dance styles and musical phrasing to capture the evocative score of John Luther Adams "Four Thousand Holes".  The other work on the program is by our commissioned artist, Amy Hall Garner. Mrs.Garner was one of the first recipients of the Joffrey Ballet's Choreography of Color Award. She has created works for Ailey II and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. Her work can also be seen on Grammy award winning artist Beyonce's The Mrs.Carter Show World Tour. Mrs.Garner just recently completed working as assistant choreographer on the new musical Witness Uganda, directed by Tony award winner Diane Paulus at American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Mass. Her new work entitled "Changes" speaks to her deep Louisiana roots, heritage and traditions passed on by her grandmother and the reversing of roles due to life's circumstances. Mrs.Garner's lyrical style and musicality is always a joy to watch, and I believe she will touch new ground with this deeply intimate work for 2 women. The entire performance runs for 1 hour with a 10 minute pause between each work. This evening of dance plans to be intimate and communal while showcasing the quality of the artists engaged this season with Kymera Dance.
