Pacific Voices Celebration: 20 Years of Singing: Saturday, Sunday Concerts and Sunday Gala
The popular Pacific Voices choir presents Celebration: 20 Years of Singing in 2 concerts to take place at Holy Cross Church, 126 High Street in Santa Cruz, Saturday, May 17 at 8:00 PM and Sunday, May 18 at 4:30 PM. Under the leadership of conductor Dr. Sean Boulware, the concerts celebrate the 20th Anniversary of this beloved communty choir, founded by Josh Gitomer.

Sunday's concert will be followed by a Gala celebration held at the Santa Cruz Mission State Historical Park, at 144 School Street, walking distance from Holy Cross. This is an opportunity to celebrate with the singers, their director and fellow audience members. A slide show will visually tell the history of Pacific Voices and food and beverages are provided. To purchase a ticket for the Gala, select Sunday from the Brown Pacific Voices page of Brown Paper Tickets, then the Gala tickets will show up.

Pacific Voices is famous for their eclectic song lists, and these concerts will be no different. They encompass a wide range of old favorites from the choir's repertoire, including Christopher Tin and Chris Kiagiri's Baba Yetu, the Lords' Prayer in Swahili set to vibrant African rhythms; Mahk Chi, a Native American heartbeat drum song by Ulali; James L. Raitts and John McKuen's rousing bluegrass Howlin' At The Moon; and Barbara W. Baker's arrangement of Charles Albert Tindley's The Storm Is Passing Over and a number of new pieces which include Where Your Bare Foot Walks, a beautiful Rumi poem set to music by David N. Childs and Wangol, a traditional Haitian piece arranged by Sten Kallman.

For 20 years this community choir of more than sixty singers has celebrated with their audiences the sheer joy, healing energy, and enduring power of singing. Come listen and share in the celebration.
