Squaw Valley Community of Writers Benefit Poetry Reading 2014
On Friday, June 20, 2014 at 7:00 p.m., Don Mee Choi, Robert Hass, Harryette Mullen, C.D. Wright, and Matthew Zapruder will read their poetry in the Starr King Room of the First Unitarian Church in San Francisco (1187 Franklin Street). Poet Christopher Sindt will emcee. This benefit reading will raise money for the Poetry Scholarship Fund at the Squaw Valley Community of Writers.
This year marks the event's 23rd anniversary and its return to San Francisco after three years. All proceeds will benefit the Poetry Workshop Scholarship Fund, enabling talented writers to attend the week-long poetry writing workshop held each year in Squaw Valley, California. It is the goal of this program to support both established and emerging writers of talent who would benefit from working with their peers at the Poetry Week at Squaw Valley.
Books donated by the poets and their publishers will be available for purchase (cash or check only) before and after the reading. The poets will be available to sign books after the reading.
Doors will open at 6:30 pm, and seating is general admission. The venue is wheelchair accessible.
PLEASE NOTE: This event is sponsored by the Squaw Valley Community of Writers. The First Unitarian Universalist Church will not be selling tickets to the event. Tickets are ONLY available online at Brown Paper Tickets and at the door.

General Admission: $24 (advance) / $26 (door)
Student (must show student I.D. at door): $12 (advance) / $14 (door)

PARKING: Parking is available at the Sutter Place Garage, 1355 Sutter St., 2 blocks from the church. On-street free parking is usually available, but please arrive early to give yourself time to find a space in the neighborhood. MUNI buses 38, 38L, 49, 47, and 90 stop within walking distance of the church.
