"Enchanted April" by Matthew Barber From the novel by Elizabeth von Arnim
"To those who appreciate wisteria and sunshine, small medieval Italian castle on the shores of the Mediterranean to let for the month of April" is the advertisement that catches the eyes of two disappointed London housewives.
The year is 1922, and London is rain-soaked and dreary, following WWI.
Feeling lost in their marriages and adrift in the changing currents of post-WWI society, two unhappy London housewives rent a villa in Italy for an impulsive holiday away from their husbands, reluctantly recruiting a pair of independent upper-class women to share the cost. Alone together under the Mediterranean sun during this "Enchanted April", the four women clash and then begin to bond and bloom until men once again threaten the balance.
Romantic comedy in two acts
