Charles Heath Presents Ken Chaney Scholarship Benefit Concert
Ken Chaney Scholarship Fundraising Concert For Education and Free Music Series In an effort to expand our impact, we are planning a special fundraising concert with Nnenna Frelon this summer! Proceeds from this performance will help further our mission to provide music scholarships for young jazz students and provide a series of free concerts this summer
About The Ken Chaney Scholarship
A passionate pianist, dedicated musician and mentor, Ken Chaney gave of his time and talent to mentor musicians throughout Chicago and beyond. Many of those who are regular performers throughout our beautiful city benefited from his generous spirit. In honor of his memory, Charles Heath Presents has started a new scholarship fund to support young musicians.
About Nnenna Freelon Six-time GRAMMY Award-nominee Nnenna Freelon has earned a well-deserved reputation as a compelling and captivating live performer. A tireless advocate for the arts, and known for her dedication to education and children of all ages, Freelon has been recognized often - YWCA of North Carolina's 2011 inaugural "Legend Award" for her outstanding artistry and dedication to education, 2010 "Woman of Substance" by Bennett College for Woman, the National Inventor's Hall of Fame for her artistry, the Eubie Blake Award, Academie of Jazz of France Award, and many more.
About Charles Heath Presents Jazz'n on the South Side The mission of Jazz'n on the South Side is to keep jazz alive through the education, mentorship and training of the next generation of jazz artists while fostering a climate of jazz awareness and appreciation in the community.
