Bakunda (We Love)
Bakunda (We Love) weaves together an exciting and original blend of Flamenco, B'Inganzo, West African, Contemporary, Step Dance and Spoken Word, utilizing the language of rhythm to highlight resilience and interconnection with one another and with the rest of the natural world.

Energetic and graceful dancers Alicia Yip, Lydia Bakunda, Marita Kennedy-Castro, Bianca Abdalla & Lindsey Bourassa provide the heartbeat of the show.

Spoken word and original poetic verses by Sontiago (Sonya Tomlinson), Zahro Hassan and Maryen Hassan.
Live West African style drumming by Annegret Baier, Jeff Howe, Janice Erickson and Sandra Benson.
Guitar, palmas and vocals provided by Olas Music & Dance members Chriss Sutherland, Leif Sherman-Curtis, Molly Angie & Anna Giamaios.
Additional dancers include Alpha Castro, Megu Hiryama, Erica Alt and Sontiago.

Join us for this special night of performance and community, Saturday, April 19th at 7pm (doors at 6:30pm) at the John Ford Theatre*.

By sharing in rituals of rhythm in community we aim to foster more complete wellbeing, both collectively and as individuals.
