Sean Dorsey Dance: 2014 Home Season
Sean Dorsey Dance returns to the San Francisco stage with an evening of powerful dances: a WORLD PREMIERE excerpt from Dorsey's new show 'The Missing Generation' and an exclusive return engagement of the exquisite Lou from 'Uncovered: The Diary Project.' Advance tickets are highly recommended for this three-nights-only event. Performed by Sean Dorsey, Juan De La Rosa, Clint Calimlim, Brian Fisher and Nol Simonse.

THE MISSING GENERATION  world premiere excerpt: Sean Dorsey Dance is proud to share a sneak peek of its new show: The Missing Generation will explore the contemporary impact of the loss of so much of an entire generation of gay and transgender people to AIDS in the 1980s and 90s. This April 24-26, enjoy a world premiere excerpt that features Sean Dorsey Dance's acclaimed full-throttle movement, luscious partnering and sumptuous pairing of storytelling and dance. To create The Missing Generation, Dorsey is recording oral history interviews with people in communities across the US.

LOU (from 'UNCOVERED: THE DIARY PROJECT'): Lou (2009) is a suite of dances based on the lifelong journals of pioneering transgender activist Lou Sullivan (1951-1991). Sullivan was a gay transgender man and a trailblazing activist, writer and organizer who lived and died in San Francisco. Before his death from AIDS complications, Sullivan bequeathed 30 years of his diaries and papers to the San Francisco GLBT Historical Society to leave a companion for other transgender people, to educate and open minds, and to ensure that the progress he had struggled a lifetime for would not be lost.

To create Lou, Dorsey researched, transcribed, compiled and distilled 30 years of Sullivan's journal writings into an original soundscore, and choreographed a powerful suite of dances based on Sullivan's remarkable journey. Lou and Uncovered: The Diary Project have toured the US from New York to Los Angeles, and tour to Miami's Out in the Tropics Festival this June.
