The Shambhala Principle: Rising to the Challenge of Our Times
Boulder Shambhala Center
Boulder, CO
Share this event:

The Tibetan meditation master and founder of Naropa University, Chögyam Trungpa, offered the modern world the Shambhala vision of enlightened society. The underlying principle of this vision is the inherent basic goodness of humanity. More than simply a hope for the future, Shambhala vision is also a practice or a way of rising to the social and ecological challenges of our time.

Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche is the leader of Shambhala and author of The Shambhala Principle: Discovering Humanity's Hidden Treasure. We are honored that Sakyong and senior teachers will lead us in a weekend of meditation and teachings to rouse our own connection with basic goodness.

The Shambhala Principle allows us to summon the innate potential of both personal and collective wisdom. During the program, we will be practicing meditation not only as a means of personal transformation, but as a way to shift deep cultural assumptions about human nature. The weekend will extend the meditative experience to engage in contemplative conversation focusing on three levels of social transformation:  personal, interpersonal (relationships), and collective (societal).

The Shambhala Principle is a living movement of courage, inspiration, and genuineness that we can experience right now. This will be a profound way to celebrate the inspired vision that gave birth to Naropa University 40 years ago.

Everyone is invited to attend! This program is open to all - whether you are a new or experienced meditator.

This weekend program is part of Naropa University's 40th Anniversary Celebration.
