During the first half of the 20th Century, mainstream movie-making often exploded with jaw-dropping, gasp-inducing racism, sexism and generally very un-PC stuff. Film scholar Glenn Andreiev returns to the Cinema with a collection of unforgettable and rare film clips, some of which modern studios 2WICKEDGlenn3still wish they could bury. Andreiev puts these forbidden films, which targeted ALL races, into historic perspective. See the dark side of such film legends as Busby Berkeley, Popeye, Our Gang, Fay Wray, Boris Karloff, Eddie Cantor and many more. Andreiev will also present how African-American film-makers and actors struggled, and finally got a foot into Hollywood's door before World War II. History class has rarely been this shocking!
Glenn Andreiev is a long time Long Island film-maker and film historian. His articles on film history can be found in The Village Connection and Films in Review. He has taught at the Cinema, and at The School of Visual Arts, from which he graduated with a BFA Degree in Film. His past work as a film-maker has appeared on CNN, TruTV, and The View. He is currently working on a new film entitled Cat's View.
