"A MOTHER'S LOVE" an oratorio from "MOSES FROM THE QUR'AN"
VOICES Multicultural Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Baruch Whitehead and Lorrene Adams, is pleased to present the Premiere of the world's first Islamic Oratorio, a work for Western and Middle Eastern Instruments, Chorus and Soloists, about the life of the prophet Moses based on stories from the Qur'an. "A Mother's Love" is the first in a series of oratorios from a set entitled, Moses From the Qur'an and focuses primarily on the Mother of Moses and the Infant Moses, a fitting gift of music for Mother's Day 2014.
"A Mother's Love" by local composer, Sora Jederan-Shpack, blends Classical, Middle Eastern and American Blues bringing to life stories about Moses, the quintessential prophet of freedom, as taken from the Qur'an. Come learn about the Islam that shares with us their love of God and appreciation for the prophets of old. Leave with a sense that these great stories of the past hold truths and teachings relevant today and provide insight into peace within ourselves, our communities and across nations.
