Puccini and Mozart with Chorus and Orchestra
The Kensington Symphony Orchestra and choirs from San Francisco and Kensington team up again this year, for two great large works and two lovely shorter pieces. UU choirs from across the Bay Area join in Puccini's delightful Gloria. This early work nearly overflows with beautiful melodies and youthful energy. Mozart's delightful and dazzling duet from Cosi fan tutte, "Ah, guarda sorella," features soprano Marcelle Dronkers and mezzo Meghan Dibble. Bryan Baker is soloist in Mozart's brilliant Piano Concerto K.467 in C Major, with a noble opening movement, a frisky finale, and a sublime slow movement, it was made famous as the theme music for the movie Elvira Madigan. He and Geoffrey Gallegos share the program's conducting duties.
