The 2014 AIA|LA ProDev Series: Tax Credits & Incentives

The Research & Development Credit is a direct reduction of the tax liability on your corporate income tax return. Expenses related to activities companies do every day to stay competitive can generate credits. This includes creating new products, improving existing products, and changing your products to meet specific customer needs.

As a California business, you may be eligible to receive a number of state tax credits through such programs as the expiring Enterprise Zone Program, Manufacturing Equipment Sales Tax Exemption, New Employment Credit and the California Competes Incentive Credits.

Speaker Bios:

Luis Rivera

Experience Luis Rivera has over 24 years of experience in public accounting and tax services. Luis has served a variety of industries including manufacturing, technology, software developers, wholesale distributors, construction, professional services and not-for-profit. Prior to founding the Firm, Luis worked for international accounting firms including Ernst & Young and McGladrey & Pullen, LLP as a tax consultant providing tax consulting solutions. Luis managed projects for Research and Development Tax Credits and Inventory Studies as well as, maintained daily client responsibilities. Luis has experience in financial accounting, reporting, and management. He has supervised and managed engagements from small to large-sized businesses, in addition to providing tax planning, consulting and compliance services.

Armando worked for international accounting firms including Arthur Anderson as a tax consultant and RSM McGladrey where he solely began the State and Local Tax Credits & Incentives Group located in California. Armando has significant experience providing tax services to a variety of industries including manufacturing, technology, software developers, wholesale distributors, construction, and professional services.
