Welcome to our LIVE studio audience!
'Jazz Is Blue' is part one in a four CD recording project launched by TRY JAZZ.com in the spirit of a documentary rich with artistic style.
As our guest you will walk the red carpet into the trendy urban space of the Old Town Marquee. Vintage wood floors, exposed brick walls, gorgeous draperies, candlelit tables and warm ambiance will wrap you in an atmosphere perfect for this unique artistic experience.
YOUR applause will be captured in the recording,in photo op's and on film as 'Jazz Is Blue' showcases the Blues enriched with elements of Jazz. Adding to the uniqueness of this extraordinary event - visual artist/author/painter Mr. Julian Van Dyke will be painting LIVE during each set - capturing the moment on canvas later to become the official 'Jazz Is Blue' poster and album cover.
The 'Jazz Is Blue' band boasts international recording artists, award winning performers, professors of Jazz and regional top flight talent. A project with purpose - 'Jazz Is Blue' selected each player for their expertise in both the Blues & Jazz genres.

'Jazz Is Blue' offers an early & late show to allow the sound engineer to record each song twice!!!
Early Show:
Doors open at 5:30. CLOSE at 6:00. Show runs from 6-8:00pm
((we close the set from 8-9 for equipment checks))
Late Show:
Doors open at 9:00. CLOSE at 9:30. Show runs from 9:30-11:30

TRY JAZZ is a street roots project taking Jazz to the people, rather than playing it above them. A deep project with growing support, TRY JAZZ hears the question 'What IS Jazz?' and responds with four bold experiences that affirm: 'Jazz Is Blue'; 'Jazz Is Funk'; ' Jazz Is Soul'; 'Jazz Is Now'
The project Artistic Director, trumpeter Mr. Derrick Gardner, is an award winning composer, arranger, international recording artist and professor of Jazz. He leads TRY JAZZ on four albums that are being recorded live to celebrate the Blues, Soul, Funk & Hip Hop genres highlighted by the presence of their Jazz ancestry.
