Advance paid reservations are required for all tours.

Meet your guide at the Visitors Center inside City Hall. Watch a short video about things to do and pick up free literature and perhaps some souvenirs. Restrooms are available.

Walk into Houston's 1939 City Hall and listen to the guide's stories about the building's history, art, and architecture. Exit City Hall to admire the downtown skyline, the building's architecture, and Hermann Square Park. Photo opportunity.

Walk past the Central Library to the Houston Land Bank Building and Heritage Plaza. More photo opportunities. Photographs are not permitted inside Heritage Plaza, but you can admire the view from the 16th floor, as well as the sculpture on the ground floor.

Take a skybridge to the Doubletree Hotel in Allen Center. Restrooms are available.

Walk outside to Sam Houston Park, where you will listen to your guide and free cell phone/audio tours discussing the early history of Houston through the 10 house museums operated by the Heritage Society: the Kellum-Noble House, Schoolroom, and Herb Garden (audio tour); the Nichols-Rice-Cherry House, USS Houston Memorial, and Baker Playhouse (audio tour); Old Place (audio tour); St. John Church (audio tour); Bandstand (audio tour); the Pillot House (audio tour); the San Felipe Cottage (audio tour); the Staiti House (audio tour); the Yates House (audio tour); and the Fourth Ward Cottage (audio tour)

Although the houses are closed on Mondays, you will be able to admire them from the sidewalks in Houston's first City Park (1899).

The tour ends on the plaza of the Central Library, where restrooms are available.
