Love and the War Machine: A NATO Protest Tale (Philly)
Dance! Film! Tents! Shadow puppets! Romance! Love and the War Machine: A NATO Protest Tale is a rambunctious multimedia dance performance set to Sufjan Stevens' Illinoise album about the NATO protests in Chicago in May of last year. Join in the adventures of a NY contingent of anti-war activists as they bid their lovers farewell and get on a bus to Chicago, dance in the streets, dodge the shadow of violence, and relish in the sense of community and solidarity.
With Philadelphian dancers who are all artists and activists in their own right, this show is a grand collaboration!
Structure of the show: Opening acts - "Dulcimer Mike" Romano (hammer dulcimer) and TBA Intermission Love and the War Machine Running time: Approx. 1.5 hrs.
Note: Some at the NATO protests were victims of violence, and I've aimed to acknowledge and honor their experiences while shying away from graphic, triggering imagery.
