Two receptions/presentations featuring internationally renowned Artist Jonathan Green of Daniel Island, S.C. Mr. Green was raised in the Lowcountry of South Carolina and is famous throughout the world as one of America's most outstanding artists. Green is highly recognized for portraying Southern culture and traditions. Green captures and records his life experiences and the rich and colorful cultural heritage of the Gullah community where he was raised. Mr. Green's paintings are found in major museums and cultural collections throughout the world. Green has received numerous honors and awards for art, social, civic, and cultural contributions. Green's high level of social interest and cultural commitments, and exhibitions have brought him international recognition through his travels throughout the USA, Canada, West Indies, Switzerland, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Japan, and Mexico. Green's art has been incorporated into productions of ballet, music, opera, theatre, literature, film, educational, and video documentaries.
Jonathan Green will discuss memory of land and family, the Gullah rice culture, 250 years of Gullah History and respect for heritage.
