Reefer Madness the New Hit Musical is based on the hilariously awful 1936 film which was a staple of high school hygiene classes, then revived as a cult classic on the college circuit. Now it is having a third life as an all singing, all dancing musical, thanks to lyricist Kevin Murphy and composer Dan Studney.
Reefer revolves around Jimmy, a fresh faced young high school lad who falls victim to Jack, an evil marijuana peddler.One puff of the demon weed transforms Jimmy into a leering sex crazed maniac, bent solely on the pleasures of the flesh and his next hit. Scenes of debauchery and mayhem follow as Jimmy and his new found associates, Mae, the hostess of the reefer den and sex crazed Sally, one of the girls who works for Mae, and Ralph, a former frat boy gone bad who now resides at the reefer den.
