Roller Derby in the Heart of Ithaca
Ithaca, N.Y., May 18, 2013 --Join the Ithaca League of Women Rollers for a hard-hitting evening of family friendly roller derby on Saturday, June 1st, as members of local fan favorites the SufferJets and the BlueStockings team up for a one-time only intra-league match at Cass Park Rink in Ithaca.
Team members from the SufferJets and BlueStockings will combine to create two new teams for this special eventthe Cascadilla Crushers and the Buttermilk Brawlers. The skating will be fast, the hits will be furious, and a portion of the proceeds will help fund travel expenses as the teams head to tournaments in Philadelphia and Florida, this summer.
This event will also feature members of the Ithaca League of Junior Rollers, including returning vets and rookie skaters, during a pre-bout exhibition.
Doors open at 6:00 pm. Rollers take to the rink at 6:30 pm. Pre-sale tickets are available online for $8 or at the door for $10. Children 12 and under are free, ages 13-17 are just $5.
The Ithaca League of Junior Rollers is run by ILWR and our adult skaters train these young athletes. Junior skaters, ages 8-17, learn powerful skating skills, build fitness, make new friends, and enjoy a fun, confidence-building team experience in a supervised, competitive league structure. Some of these young women have been with our program since it was founded in 2010, and we have been lucky enough to watch their progression. Please join us in cheering on our junior rollers!
