Don Roy and Friends Bluegrass Concert
Don Roy is a nationally known bluegrass artist. He has received two State of Maine Fellowship awards for excellence in traditional music; one of his CDs earned a nomination for the National Heritage Award; he has played the Library of Congress, Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the Barns at Wolf Trap. He has twice been featured on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion" and has performed twice at the National Folk Festival. You can expect a lively evening of some of the best guitar, fiddle, and vocals the State of Maine has to offer!
The concert will take place at the beautiful and historic Bell Hill Meetinghouse, 191 Bell Hill Road, Otisfield, Maine just a short one hour drive from Greater Portland or 35 minutes from Auburn. The Meetinghouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and offers wonderful acoustics for a very enjoyable concert experience. The Meetinghouse sits atop Bell Hill and offers commanding views of the surrounding countryside, lakes and distant mountains.
Fresh lemonade and cookies by Café Nomad will be available for purchase at intermission. All proceeds from ticket and refreshment sales will benefit the ongoing restoration of the 1839 Meetinghouse.
