Joseph Firecrow in Concert
Cheyenne flutist, singer, storyteller, and songwriter Joseph Firecrow returns to Malden for a full-length concert Friday, May 31, 8pm at St. Paul's Parish in Malden.
This evening will feature stories and songs evocative of Cheyenne culture and the natural world. It will also highlight the universality of being human with all the range of emotions and social interplays. A reception will follow the concert.
Described as one of the most gifted players of the Native American flute, Joseph Firecrow performs with a depth and spirit that transcend musicianship. His performances embody a timeless culture, powerful emotion, and tender intimacy. They call to the best of our humanity and transport listeners to a space of wonder, hope, play, and peace.
Tickets will be available at the door. $15.00 adults. $10.00 students and seniors.
Joseph Firecrow, of the Northern Cheyenne tribe, is a well awarded and sought-after flutist, songwriter, and recording artist. He has released seven albums and won numerous awards including Native American Music Awards (NAMA) for songwriter of the year, best instrumental recording and flutist of the year. His fourth album, Cheyenne Nation, earned him a Grammy nomination in 2001. And he has been nominated for best artist and flute player of the year for the most recent album, "Night Walk". His work can also be heard in the Ken Burns documentary "Lewis and Clark: The Journey of the Corps of Discovery." He lives in Connecticut with his wife Joann.
