The Los Angeles Doctors Symphony Orchestra performs on the 60th anniversary of its founding, in the beautiful Coconut Grove Theatre Auditorium at Robert F. Kennedy High School. On the program:
Jean Sibelius, Finlandia
Modest Mussourgsky, Pictures at an Exhibition (orchestrated by Mikhail Tushmalov, in a new performance edition created for the orchestra by Karim Elmahmoudi)
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Piano Concerto No. 1, Rufus Choi, soloist
The concert is presented in collaboration with The Harmony Project, which targets at-risk youth in underserved areas of Los Angeles, promoting positive youth development through year-round music lessons and ensemble participation. A portion of ticket sales will go to support The Harmony Project.
