"In the Land of Rain & Salmon" Jewish Voices of the Northwest: 1880-1920
"Imagine hearing your grandfather's voice for the first time in 30 years telling you what it was like to take a boat from the old country," said Lisa Kranseler, executive director of the Washington State Jewish Historical Society. "Or maybe listening to your cousin talk about borrowing money to open a store. How about hearing your aunt describe baking biscochos or making matzo ball soup, just like her mother did? You can experience these moving moments during a live performance that will take you into the lives of early Jewish pioneers in the state of Washington  some of whom you may remember, others whom you will discover for the very first time."

The historical society's seminal event for its Year of Washington Jews in Arts and Culture, this one-of-a-kind staged event takes place Sunday, June 2, 2013, at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute, which was originally Chevra Bikur Cholim synagogue, making it a very special place to hold this heritage production.

Part of the Jewish Day of Arts and Culture in conjunction with the Seattle Jewish Corale. This event is co-sponsored by: Book-It Repertory Theatre, 4Culture, Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute, Jewish Federation of Great Seattle and JT News.
