Cooperstown Summer Music Festival: Vienna 1, The Imperial City

Brahms Clarinet Quintet, Op. 115
This program features composers of three different generations; all of whom had intimate connections to Beethoven. Another shared influence was the city of Vienna, a cultural hub full of brilliant writers, composers, musicians and artists. Vienna was a leading exporter of refined sugar, silk textiles and porcelain, which conveys a sense of the delicacy and beauty that surrounded composers such as Haydn, Ries and Brahms.
Performers: Amphion String Quartet; Linda Chesis, flute; and Mingzhe Wang, clarinet
