Atlanta Schola Cantorum, under the direction of John Whitt, presents "Mourning into Joy," a collection of motets expressing the deepest of sorrows and the most exalted joy.
The program includes Thomas Tallis's exquisite "Lamentations of Jeremiah," Thomas Tomkins's "When David heard that Absalom was slain," Orlando Gibbons's "O Clap your hands," and works by William Byrd, Adrian Batten, Thomas Weelkes, Richard Nicolson, Henry Purcell, John Sheppard, and John Tavener.
Since 1974 Atlanta Schola Cantorum has specialized in the performance of Renaissance polyphony as well as the works of notable contemporary composers.
Free parking is available at the church. Tickets at the door are $20.
