NY Women's Bar Association Foundation Breakfast May 20, 2013
Judge Gertner (retired from the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts) is a Professor of Practice at Harvard Law School, and the winner of the 2008 Thurgood Marshall Award of the American Bar Association.
At our intimate breakfast, she will speak about gender and the legal profession and will discuss her new book, In Defense of Women: Memoirs of an Unrepentant Advocate. In it she reflects upon her career, from the beginning when she would sport bright red suits in a stubbornly male profession, as a criminal defense and civil rights lawyer, before she joined the Federal bench in 1994. Linda Greenhouse says of this book, "This is a fascinating memoir of a life lived in the law with passion, guts, humor, and great skill. Nancy Gertner's clients were lucky to have her then, and the legal system is lucky to have her today."
Come hear what it was like in the 'good old days', and take advantage of some life lessons that still come in handy.
Buy your tickets now - we expect to sell out! If available, seats will be $85 at the door.
