We Still Live Here
We Still Live Here, Âs Nutayuneân, tells the truly remarkable story of cultural revival by the Wampanoag Indians of Southeastern Massachusetts. Their ancestors ensured the survival of the Pilgrims in New England and lived to regret it. This story explores the rebirth of the Wampanoag language, a language that had virtually disappeared for more than a century. Spurred on by an indomitable Wampanoag linguist named Jessie Littledoe Baird, who just won a MacArthur genius award for her unprecedented work, the Wampanoag are surprising academia and fellow tribal nations by bringing their language and their culture back to life. 82 min; Moving Mountains Prize at Telluride's MountainFilm; Full Frame Inspiration Award in Durham; Best Documentary, Arlington Film Festival; Jury Award, Wild and Scenic Film Festival.
