ABOUT
Barrio E' ("Neighborhood is") aims to create a diverse artistic community who develops and maintains a cultural and artistic space to expose, educate, preserve, and promote the traditional Puerto Rican music in Colorado.
Barrio e' promotes values of identification, respect, acceptance, care, responsibility and a sense of belonging, thus maintaining and strengthening social cohesion and a musical community space.
Barrio e' encourages creativity and interaction among its members encouraging and reinforcing the development of a community with positive attitudes and behaviors of common good.
Barrio e' is home and welcomes everyone who wants to participate, develop and promote the mission and vision of the group. Diversity is encouraged in Barrio e' in every way.
Barrio e' goals includes two parts:
Artistic Representation
Professional Artists performing and promoting Puerto Rican music in different venues, cultural and social events.
Presentations from professional artists as well as novices and intermediate members of Barrio e' who are learning and practicing a Puerto Rican musical genre.
Building a Community of Cultural and Musical Education
Promote the visibility, education, appreciation, and preservation of Puerto Rican musical genres through classes, exhibitions, presentations, workshops given in schools, dance studios, organizations, institutions, cultural and social festivals, and public and private events.
Training with excellence singers, musicians and dancers of genres that are being offered by Barrio e' and chosen by its member.
Promote the creation, development, and community cohesion through the individual and group interaction of Barrio e ' members.
Promote voluntary work and functionality of each member within Barrio e' with the thought that everyone can contribute their skills and knowledge, for the retention and growth of the group.
Promote respect, interaction and integration of diverse people, genders, age, race, etc. through music, dance, and cultural and social events.
To promote the common good of Barrio e' by following the vision and mission of the group.
Make education of Puerto Rican genres accessible to keep alive Puerto Rican culture and music in the area of Colorado.
