Event
Patriots, Pirates, Prostitutes & Taverns
New York is a legendary restaurant town.
But what did this City do before restaurants evolved? In New York, before 1900, there was really only one kind of place where the rich, the poor, the influential, the lawful and the not-so-lawful all gathered for a drink, a bite to eat and some actionsometimes all at once: The Tavern.
At the tavern every walk of life was drawn together under one roof. You just KNOW great stories had to come of THAT! We will reveal some of the best tales to come out of New York and its appetites!
One the many locations we will visit is the place where pirates connived, Revolutionary War Patriots plotted and George Washington himself was known to have shed a tear: historic Fraunces Tavern. (Serving food and drink on the same spot since 1762.)
