The Silks, The Sugar Honey Iced Tea, and James Maple at Lily Pads
What can we say? We can't let Providence have all the fun. Three of Rhode Island's best.

The Silks

Formed in the summer of 2010, The Silks have burst onto the music scene in New England with ferocity and enthusiasm. Front-man and songwriter Tyler James Kelly has managed to assemble a cast of musicians with links to bands like The Midnight Creeps, Brown Bird, Cowgirl, Electric Service and The Sugar Honey Iced Tea, and blending it into a sound that is all The Silks' own. They have overnight garnered a reputation as a band that everyone wants to see.

The Silks have had the privilege of sharing the stage with Deer Tick, These United States, The Cave Singers, Brown Bird, The Devil Makes Three, and The Agents. They were a principal band at Revival Too, the second night of the reopening of the Columbus Theater in Providence.

The Sugar Honey Iced Tea

The Sugar Honey Iced Tea- Ana Mallozzi, Kate Jones, Laila Aukee, Emily Shaw- formed during the fall of 2010 and in less than 6 months earned a Motif Music Award thru the votes of local scenesters and music aficionados. No small task in an environment that recently unleashed the likes of Deer Tick and Low Anthem on the nation. They draw, whether consciously or innately, from the great American traditions of old timey and folk, but with harmonies and solo vocals popularized in bluegrass. Sugar Honey Iced Tea have a charismatic quality similar to Red Molly or a quartet of young Gillian Welch's or Alison Krauss's. They had the distinction of being the kickoff band at Revival, the grand re-opening of the Columbus Theater in Providence.

James Maple

Friend and collaborator with many in Rhode Island's incredible indie scene, James founded Grave Robbers, and currently performs his powerful songs solo. A high point of last year was performing at Newport Folk Festival, both on the Museum stage, and busking around the festival with the likes of Joe Fletcher, Jonah Tolchin, Shea Vaccaro and Haunt the House.

Join us for this great evening celebrating new Rhode Island music.

Tickets are $15, and will be available at Sweet Cakes Bakery, the Alternative Food Co-op and Looney Tunes II, and online at BrownPaperTickets.com. On sale beginning April 3rd.
