BETTE DAVIS AIN'T FOR SISSIES
"I have Two Oscars, not one but TWO"
BETTE DAVIS AIN'T FOR SISSIES is a powerful one-woman show starring Jessica Sherr and directed by Janice Orlandi, Artistic Director of the Actors Movement Studio. Taking place on the night of the 1939 Academy Awards, Davis finds out that she will lose the Oscar to Vivien Leigh, so she decides to leave the ceremony. What follows is an internal dialogue of Davis' memories, filled with historically accurate details and piercing insight into the struggle of the actress who wouldn't fit into the mold of the stereotypical Hollywood ingenue. An official selection of the New York Fringe Festival, this is a spirited portrayal of a box-office icon and powerful woman. See what happens when someone who always wants to win...loses.
"Sherr is a compelling presence. She gives a heartfelt, committed performance"NYTheater.com
"BETTE DAVIS AIN'T FOR SISSIES is a welcome addition to Davis lore, and Jessica Sherr, as an actress, is every bit as courageous as her subject"Bistro Awards, Kevin Scott Hall
