THE SPIDER FERNS (Seattle-Bow, WA) // Lo Flux Media
"We make music late at night in a converted barn at the base of a small mountain."

The Spider Ferns create dark, sophisticated electronic pop with heavy downtempo beats and striking, seductive vocals. Their latest release 'Safety' is an intoxicating opium dream a powerful and entrancing call to ponder the human condition, pulling you into a universe where time and presence dissolve into transcendent beauty. Laden with swirling guitars, driving beats and luminous vocals, The Spider Ferns sound recalls the denizens of dark-pop Portishead and Massive Attack, interlaced with post-punk pulses reminiscent of Siouxie And The Banshees and the modern, synth-driven stylings of The XX and Phantogram. "Their music combines a slick, trip-hop nostalgia with a dreamy Northwest haze; like if Portishead lived deep in the forests of Washington State." -Decoder Magazine.

"If Saturday at the Capitol Hill Block Party was defined by the mountain of local talent that filled the Cha Cha, Sunday could have been most notable for the amount of electronic music that occupied Neumos, including Seattles The Spider Ferns, whose blend of jittery and ghost-like elements proved to be an excellent antidote to the seemingly-blazing summer sun that occupied much of Sunday. Singer Kelly Fleek was at once enigmatic and bold in her performance, her voice full of volume but her lyrics never quite explaining the evocative scenes she and the bands electronics painted. A sharp, downtempo contrast to both the big tent EDM that dominated much of the adjacent main stage throughout the weekend and the blistering, sarcasm-damaged punk that seemed to define the festivals local presence at points, The Spider Ferns silvery swirl stood out on a day  and to be fair, weekend  where electronic music reigned king." NATASHA KMETO (Portland, OR) // Riot Act Media
with Damon Boucher on keys + bass and Donovan Edwards on back up vocals + keys

As queer identity gets shoved aside with the mainstreaming of electronic music, as if the queer community didnt fuel the genres formation, its more vital than ever to have voices like Kmetos bringing it to the forefront. This, without question, is a record of discovery and confusion as much as it is about the power of confidence in understanding and loving oneself. Inevitable is a collection of slowly ripping cords, the underlying tension manifesting on tracks as if Kmeto must manage simmering emotions and cant, or maybe wont. -Pitchfork

Natasha Kmeto is an electronic producer/vocalist dedicated to the art of emotional engagement. Writing, producing, and performing all her material, Kmeto combines her sensuous voice with a dancefloor ethic, exuding a thoughtful physicality that rewards openness and vulnerability. Stylistically she explores the lines intersected by RnB, soul, and dance music, built using an electronic toolkit developed by years of discipline. Shes most at home when on stage, singing to her fans hearts and playing to their bodies.

Natashas artistic growth has accelerated after years of hard work. Shes at her most self-realized on her last LP Inevitable, an album that deals with matters of love and a newly affirmed personal outlook. She has increasingly embraced her identity as a queer female, letting it interweave with and inform her talents as a musician. Like anyone undergoing the lifelong process of self-acceptance, Natashas growth is expected continue in inventive ways. On her newest single release, she delves deeper into issues of feminism and queerness: Pour Down serves as an anthem for empowerment while Free For Tonight explores the concept of safe space.
