Public Lecture with Iraqi-American Virtuoso Oud Player, Rahim AlHaj
Virtuoso oud player, Rahim AlHaj will be giving a free public lecture at the Weber State University Wildcat Theater in the Student Union building.
Rahim's presentation will create a bridge between the Arab and non-Arab communities, humanizing the experiences of a foreigner and fostering more empathy for Arabs within our community.
His presentation will begin at 1 pm.
As a part of his residency in Utah, Rahim AlHaj will be giving several performances and outreach events. Here's what else he's up to!
Friday Evening, October 6: Rahim will be holding a public outreach focused on reaching at-risk and undeserved youth in Ogden, This event will be in partnership with Youth Impact and Nurture the Creative Mind and will take place at the Browning Jubilee Center at 7 pm. These youth are no strangers to overcoming adversity, and may find inspiration in Rahim's story and ability to express his cultural identity through the creative process.
Saturday evening, October 7: He will be performing with NEXTEnsemble at Alleged on 25th Street in Downtown Ogden. More information can be found on that performance here: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3079075
Saturday afternoon, October 7: Rahim will also give a masterclass that is free and open to the public following his lecture on Saturday. The masterclass will be in the WSU Browning Center, room 113 at 3 pm.
Sunday evening, October 8: He will be performing with the Weber State University Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, October 9 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are available at weberstatetickets.com.
