HENRY "The Skipper" FRANKLIN has performed with many headline artists including Al Jarreau, Stevie Wonder, Count Basie, Freddie Hubbard and Milt Jackson and was part of the legendary Hugh Masekelas band during the late 1960s.
There are more than 100 albums on which Henry appears, with many of them produced under his leadership. They include: The Skipper and The Skipper at Home (Black Jazz label), Three Card Molly, Bassic Instincts, The Hunter, Bass Encounters (Resurgent Music label), Colemanology, Ears Wide Open, Three Worlds, A Musical Tribute to Gene Harris featuring Three More Sounds, Summer Serenade (Beezwax Records), Shalabongo, We Came to Play (Jeru Records), Tribal Dance (Catalyst Records), Blue Lights (Ovation Records), Sakura (WJ3 Records), All God's Children (SP Records), Music to the 5th Power (SP Records), 3Bop (SP Records), If We Should Meet Again (SP Records), O, What a Beautiful Morning! (SP Records), Soul of the World (SP Records), June Night (SP Records) and High Voltage (SP Records). Henry also published a method book for all bass players entitled, Bassically Yours.
AL WILLIAMS drummer, entrepreneur and promoter of jazz, has a well-earned reputation as a musical mover and shaker.Whether it be bebop, blues, funk, straight ahead, or Latin, he creates rhythmic artistry and power which support the melody line and command listener involvement. Early experience included touring as a percussionist with the Jennie LeGon Caribbean Dance Troupe. His recording and/or touring experience includes work with jazz greats, Hampton Hawes (Something Special), Leroy Vinnegar (The Kid), Teddy Edwards, Willie Bobo, Kenny Burrell, Eddie Harris, Freddie Hubbard, Sarah Vaughn, and Roy Ayers. On a more bluesy note, he has kept time for Jimmy Witherspoon and Lowell Folsom.
THEO SAUNDERS, one of the busiest pianists in the music business, has performed in many of the worlds most prestigious jazz festivals and concert halls with distinguished artists including Freddie Hubbard, Carla Bley, David Fathead Newman, Barbara Morrison, Gladys Knight, and many others.
His diverse musical activities have included musical director for opera and dance productions, for cabaret singers, and international musical theatre. He has played with many well known Latin, R&B, and rock artists, including Claudio Roditi, Victor Brasil, Ray Mantilla, Willie Bobo, Bobby Matos, Raul De Souza, Ray Armando, Claudio Caribe, Guillerme Franco, Bobby Rodriguez, Gladys Knight, Four Tops, Elephants Memory, and is a former member (Piano) of the Jazz Tap Ensemble. He also has performed in collaboration with poet David Meltzer and assemblage artist George Herms.
DOUG WEBB was born in Chicago and moved to California at the age of 3. He is a graduate of Edison high school in Huntington Beach, CA and received a Bachelor of Music from Bostons Berklee College of Music. He began playing the clarinet at the age of 8 and added saxophone and flute at 15. He lives in Los Angeles with his beautiful wife Alex and his son, Ryan.
Over his career Webb has played and recorded with such notable talents as Horace Silver, Freddie Hubbard, Sal Marquez, Stanley Clarke, Quincy Jones, Mat Marucci, Kyle Eastwood, Billy Childs, Rod Stewart, Carly Simon, Art Davis, Kenny Rogers, Bonnie Raitt, Pancho Sanchez and Vikki Carr. He played with the house band for the Dennis Miller TV show, the Jimmy Cleveland orchestra and continues to tour with the Doc Severinsen big band. He has recorded music for hundreds of movies and television programs. He solos on the sound track for Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby and Jersey Boys. Webb has been featured on hundreds of recordings.
