Chocolate Fête

Join us for an evening of chocolate, Caribbean music, and discovery about Haiti - one of the earth's perfect environments for growing cacao.
Proceeds benefit the Valiant Ladies Association (Asosysayon Fanm Vanyan 5eme) in Petit Goâve, Haiti.
Saturday, October 7 at 7 p.m. 7:15 program starts
The chocolate tasting will include the best of Madison Chocolate Company's signature chocolate confections, single origin hot chocolate, AND newly arrived award-winning Haitian bar chocolate.
Megan Hile, owner of Madison Chocolate Company, will lead the tasting and answer questions about her singular creations.
Nicxon Digacin, a native of rural Haiti, will talk about life in rural Haiti. He will introduce Asosysayon Fanm Vanyan 5eme (Valliant Ladies Association) a collective of women artisans - organized by his mother Iferlie Digacin. Iferlie learned he craft at a young age and has been passing the knowledge on to other women for almost as long. She is the first woman to be elected to the position of Kazek (local rural leader) in Petit Goâve's history. Nicxon will talk about the the products the group creates and their importance in the family's health and economy. He will also explain the traditional handmade chocolate process in rural Haiti as this was his grandmothers trade. Finally, we will sample Haitian Chocolate from Palette de Bine (Quebéc, CA). Their Haitian chocolate bar is the winner of these International Chocolate Awards: SILVER WORLD ICA: HAÏTI PISA 70% GOLD AMERICA-ASIA ICA: HAÏTI PISA 70%
There will be drawings for one-of-a-kind handmade Haitian goods created by members of the Valiant Ladies Association. Haitian/Caribbean music provided by Radio Lib, Mr. Digacin's radio station.
Madison Chocolate Company is located across the street from Gates & Brovi (Monroe Street).
