Banchan Workshop -- #13 Kimchi -- at Neighbor Backyard
Learn how to make kimchi at home!

Come hangout in the Neighbor Backyard with Selina while she shows you how to make delicious homemade kimchi with accessible ingredients.  We will be making traditional Napa Cabbage Kimchi and Radish Kimchi (Kkadugi).  You will get to make kimchi and take them home.  

Selina will be providing the demo and you get to work in groups of two.  We will also be having a little tasting table at the end with few dishes Selina will be serving to talk about how to cook with kimchi, the art of fermentation and numerous kimchi inspired dishes to make.  Come join us!  There will be limited seats so be sure to book soon!


MENUS:

Making in Class:
Napa Cabbage Kimchi (Baechu Kimchi)
A traditional napa cabbage with radish, green onion fermented with seasoning: sea salt, gochugaru (Korean chili powder), sugar, preserved shrimp, garlic, ginger, fish sauce, sweet rice flour.

Radish Kimchi (Kkadugi)
A traditional Korean radish cut into small cubes then fermented with seasoning (same as above).

Tasting Table:
Kimchi Toast with Quail Eggs
A savory toast of baguette with sauteéd kimchi and fried quail egg

Buckwheat Noodle Salad
Butter lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, buckwheat noodles with ginger miso dressing

Drinks & water will be provided.



Selina's Bio:
Selina S. Lee is a food blogger / food stylist based in Oakland, CA. Besides developing recipes and sharing them online, she hosts cooking workshop called Banchan Workshop. A series of Korean cooking workshop that focuses on cultured cooking and pickling. She has hosted many workshops like Kimchi, Korean Street Food to Korean home-cooking basics like Rice & Noodle.
