SHADOW. EURYDICE SAYS
Most people think Eurydice is a love story. Jelinek thinks otherwise. In her trademark stream-of-consciousness style, Jelinek chops, screws and tears apart the old myth, bringing feminist theory and Freud to bear on boy bands and smartphone culture. Spoken by a chorus of women of a certain age, SHADOW. EURYDICE SAYS is a jagged, vulgar last lament on the subject of love, aging, disappearing, and death.
We're producing the North American premiere of Nobel Prize winner Elfriede Jelineks most recent play to be translated into English, SHADOW. EURYDICE SAYS, published in PAJ: A Journal of Performance and Art.
We are an intergenerational team of angry feminists with a commitment to lifting up the voices of those who are usually silenced, the Eurydices of the world.
SHADOW. EURYDICE SAYS will perform October 1214, 2017 in the John Cullum Theatre at the American Theatre of Actors (314 W. 54th St, NY/NY) as part of the2017Araca Project.
