Medicine Making 2: Infused oils, salves and creams
Herbal infused oils are one of the most finicky herbal things to make. They mold easily, they go rancid, and can turn out weak. Creams can also be tricky. Will it come together? Will it mold before I get a chance to use it?
We'll learn the ins and outs of making infused oils with fresh and dry plant material, and cold and hot infusion methods. Then well learn how to make a salve, which is oil hardened with beeswax. Finally, we'll learn to make an herb infused medicinal cream. We'll talk about different emulsifiers, oils and herbs that you can use to customize your own product.
This will be a hands on class, so wear something you don't mind getting oil on, or bring an apron. You'll get to take home a bit of the cream and salve we make in class!
