"Peril of the Polls" Glendora Continental
San Gabriel Valley Repertory Theatre is the only company in Los Angeles County keeping the art of melodrama deliciously alive, where dinner, a show and free parking come together in one place and where interactive fun does not need to be plugged in.
While dining on a three-course (Italian-style buffet) dinner, guests cheer on the hero, sigh for the damsel in distress, and let the villain know how they really feel. Can you help save the day?
Peril of the Polls
In Valentine, Nebraska, Wally Wessell (Glenn Miller) is running for re-election as governor. With wife Daisy (Azo Safo) at his side, he is aided by daughter Mina (Malorie Felt). Head-of-security, State Trooper Dwayne Cooper (Aditya Joshi), is investigating a near-fatal "accident" that almost ended Wally's life. While gathering evidence, Trooper Cooper meets Mina and a romance blossoms. Evil Hugh Beast (Nicholas Passell) plots with State Senator Neddie Neinerniener (Lisa Wisong Miller) to eliminate Wessell from the governor's race.
A deliciously sumptuous dinner is served between the acts and the actors perform around the guests. Performances are always family-friendly.
Meal choices (usually beef, chicken or fish, or vegetarian) are made when reserving. Special diets can be accommodated.
Parking is free and plentiful, the drive is short and traffic-free, and the fun is immeasurable, plus you get a good feeling knowing that a percentage of Dining Dramatically's net proceeds goes to a local charitable organization.
Performances are held at 3 local venues: Maris Kitchen (Covina) Sept. 15, 16 & 17; Oak Tree Room (Arcadia) Sept. 23 & 24; and Glendora Continental Sept. 29 & 30.
At Maris Kitchen, guests may bring a bottle of their own wine with the receipt. Beer and wine are available for sale at the Oak Tree Room and a full bar is available at Glendora Continental.
The price includes the show and dinner which consists of salad and bread, entrée with vegetables, dessert, and drinks such as soda, coffee, and tea.
