A Night Of Music for LunchDebt.org
Please join us on Friday, August 25, 2017, at 7:00pm for a night of music to celebrate the launch of the statewide campaign for LunchDebt.org to end lunch debt in Washington State, sponsored by the Hollywood Schoolhouse. Join Christina Medawar (acting principal flute of the Houston Grand Opera) and musicians from the Seattle Symphony and Pacific Northwest Ballet for a concert featuring chamber music for flute and strings. This event is generously sponsored by the Hollywood Schoolhouse and GoFundMe!
LunchDebt.org was created in May of 2017 by Jeff Lew, who started a GoFundMe campaign to pay off the lunch debt owed by students in the Seattle School District. In less than a week, members of the community donated over $25,000, fully erasing all student lunch debt in the district.. Jeff then began raising money for the school districts in Tacoma, Renton, and Spokane with similar results. Now, LunchDebt.org is excited to launch a campaign to tackle the entirety of school lunch debt in Washington State.
At the event, doors will open at 7:00 pm for a meet and mingle hour. There will be opportunities to learn about the cause, to meet educators facing the problem in their schools, and to mingle with community members who are passionate about ending lunch debt. Appetizers will be provided and a cash bar will be available.
There will be a brief presentation about LunchDebt.org with the concert to follow. The program will consist of Mozart's Flute Quartet in D Major, Ginastera's Impresiones de la Puna for flute and string quartet, and Amy Beach's Theme and Variations for flute and string quartet.
This will be an unforgettable evening. Please come, enjoy yourself, and support the students of Washington State! Visit www.lunchdebt.org for more details.
