Immunity, Infection and Aging
Our immune systems can be both helpful (fighting infection) as well as harmful (causing allergies and auto-immune diseases). In this class, we will explore the mechanisms for fighting infection and the effects of aging. Of special interest will be the critical intestinal immune system, which must coexist with, yet defend against trillions of bacteria.
Our presenter, Dr. Linda Caren, received her Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology from Stanford Professor Emerita of Biology from Cal State University, Northridge.
This class will be held on Wednesday, September 20 from 10am to noon at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center on 17000 Monterey Road. Class fee of $10 supports Older Adult Services in Morgan Hill.
