A Springboard to the Sublime Boccherini and Mozart
If God wanted to speak to man through music, he would do so through Haydns works; if, however, he wished to listen to music himself, he would choose the works of Boccherini. (Jean-Baptiste Cartier)
Boccherini was not only a formidable cellist, but a composer of prodigious output, especially in his chamber music for strings. Led by the interpretive eloquence and technical sparkle of violinist Elizabeth Blumenstock, Sarasa recreates the geniuses of Boccherini and Mozart side by side. The Mozart string sextet is a rarely heard contemporary arrangement of his congenial Sinfonia concertante, K. 364.
Music by Luigi Boccherini and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Elizabeth Blumenstock, Christina Day Martinson, violins; Jenny Stirling, Jason Fisher, violas; Timothy Merton, Jennifer Morsches, cellos
