Burning Yard
We can't go to Burning Man this year, but we CAN utilize all the space, tools, art supplies, circus equipment, H2O, and beautiful people that are right here! Best of all, we can make something amazing out of a regular weekend without even leaving the state. Welcome to Burning Yard!
This will be a three day celebration of creation and fostering community, Friday September 1st through Sunday September 3rd with load out on Monday September 4th in the afternoon. Well build an effigy together on Saturday; the burn will be Sunday night. During the effigy build, participants will be able to help with the build, work on other projects, and more (including but obviously not limited to):
art making, fire flow, aerial acrobatics, dancing, parties, cooking, building, music, meditation, tea, creating, shibari, stretching, being ridiculous, learning, connecting, and having an all around good time!
This is YOUR event. Bring and share what gives you purpose. You will have access to all kinds of power tools and space for creating, as well as a platform to share pretty much whatever you want. There will be a Who, What, When, Where; when you decide on what you want to contribute send a message to Tom with the details.
Location:
-Burning Yard will take place at our house in the burbs. There is plenty of space in the huge backyard, and other excellent amenities include: multifunction jam/play/circus room, ample parking, outdoor circus rig, fire pit, grill, tons of shade, real bathrooms, and an outdoor tree swing. Many of you have been here to experience these joys. If you haven't yet, now's the time!
-There is enough space in the back yard for many people to pitch tents. If you don't have a tent, there is plenty of space inside with couches, mats, and massage tables to sleep on.
Food:
-There will be a meal plan! Communal eating is enjoyable, cuts down on excess, and gives us more time to build things and have fun. Meals will be vegetarian with optional meat on the side. The meal plan is covered in your ticket cost of $25 and includes breakfast and dinner each day- a total of 5 meals (Friday dinner, Saturday and Sunday breakfast & dinner).
-The kitchen crew will need to be staffed for each meal, so please volunteer for a shift! You don't have to plan anything, just show up and help out.
-If you want to prepare something special for the group, let us know ahead of time. Of course, feel free to bring your own snacks and other food. You will have access to the kitchen and grill when they arent being used for communal meals.
Timeline:
If youd like to come early on Friday to work on a project or install, please send Tom a message. Friday night (September 1st) we kick off the celebrations with an open aerial and fire/flow jam. Saturday is effigy build day, along with any other awesome activities in our mini www! Sunday we will do final touches on the effigy (and more activities, of course), and Sunday night is the burn.
Our effigy might be small in stature, but it will have the most love per capita! We want all attendees to add to the effigy in some way: write a note, attach a picture, make decorations, or bestow an offering. Keep this in mind if there would be something meaningful for you personally to add. The build will be fun and relatively easy since the effigy will not be very large. Thus, feel free to join the build crew in its creation.
This is going to be an amazing weekend! We cant wait to see what creations take form at BURNING YARD!
