90 minutes. Five artists. One supply closet. MAC's biggest annual fundraiser. Throwdown 6: Retribution is a one-of-a-kind art party, silent auction, and live art battle like none other seen in Mobile. It's time to throw down!
This year's challengers are coming back from the previous 5 years for a chance at redemption! Our Throwdown 6: Retribution competitors are Devlin Wilson (Throwdown 5), Rando Dixon (Throwdown 4), Ameri'ca Tickle (Throwdown 3), Amanda Danger Youngblood (Throwdown 2), and Nancy Raia (Throwdown 1). They will be given a box containing pre-selected unknown items, a shared supply cart, and 90 minutes to create new works of art. These masterpieces will be sold in a live auction at the end of theevening, emceed by Mobile favorite Darwin Singleton Local 15 News. The artist whose piece raises the most money during the live auction will be declared the Throwdown 6 Champion.
The silent auction consists of items donated by area artists and organizations, ranging from paintings, photographs, ceramics and sculptures to tickets for performances and weekend get-a-ways. While watching the competition and bidding on the silent auction, party goers can enjoy music by DJ Ron Anthony, food from Heroes (Downtown) Sports Bar & Grille and The Royal Scam, plenty of beer courtesy of Gulf Coast Distributing, wine and, of course, MAC's signature cocktail: "The Red Rooster".
All proceeds go towards the Mobile Arts Council's mission to support, strengthen and sustain the local arts and cultural community. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.
