Cascade Harmony Presents " Come to the a Kappella Kabaret"
Come to a great afternoon of a Kappella Kabaret! Starring Speed of Sound, singing the favorites we all know and love (Taylor the Latte Boy, anyone?) and some rep songs that will be as entertaining as ever.
Flipside will be there too - ringing chords like the Lakewood Theatre has never heard before! Don't miss this great show.
If you've never seen Speed of Sound before, get your tickets now! The 2016 International Queens of Harmony, Carter, Ashley, Kim and Debbie are not only lovers of a cappella, but one of the most entertaining quartets you'll see!
Carter Maysilles (baritone) is a barbershop brat from Lapeer, Michigan who has had music as a huge part of her life growing up starting with her mother. In fact, she sang in her first quartet (well, it was her moms quartet) at the age of three! After college graduation, Carter packed her bags for Walt Disney World in Florida, where she sang with Voices of Liberty at EPCOT for six years. Today, Carter lives with her husband, Amos Velez (also a barbershopper), near Orlando, Florida.
Ashley Wright (Lead) is a third-generation barbershopper, originally from southern California. At the young age of 5, she was already singing solos and other ensemble pieces at her school and in church. At the age of 9, Ashley was a member of a 50-voice Sweet Adeline International Chorus (4-part barbershop harmony for women). She competed in her first quartet at the age of 12. Ashley then joined her churchs adult choir at the age of 13. By the age of 16, she began recording learning tracks for her fathers own vocal learning tracks business Larry Wright Music at www.LarryWrightMusic.com and still records them to this day.
Ashley joined the South Bay Christian Choir at 19 her fathers touring choir. At 23, she formed a quartet called Junction with the director of the TuneTown Show Chorus and placed 4th in the Womens Region 23 Competition. Then at 24, Speed of Sound was formed and her life as she knew it would never be the same. :-)
Ashley now resides in Franklin, Tennessee, and works as an Analyst & Sales Coordinator at CoreTrust Purchasing Group.
Life outside of Sweet Adelines is narrow but rich with family and career. Kim is married to Tim McCormic and has four children and five grandchildren. Her career is in the medical field, specializing in Compounding Pharmacy and Nutritional Education and Marketing. She sings with the Pride of Portland Chorus, the same group of women for the last 25 years! Kim has sung in several quartets that competed on the International level. They include Razzcals, ACT IV, and Out of Bounds, and most recently as the bass of the 2013 Sweet Adelines International (SAI) Championship Quartet, Touché. She resides in Portland, Oregon.
Debbie Landers (tenor) lives just outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. She spends her time being a mom to her three daughters and wife to her husband who travels to film live sports television. Debbies been singing all her life and found barbershop around 1995 when she joined the Queen Charlotte Chorus. She has been in two regional winning quartets other than Speed of Sound: Southern Yankees (2002, 2004 and 2006) and Surround Sound (2009). Debbie loves to travel with her family and currently works at home and is a band mom in her spare time.
