Awake to Rhythm
Awake to Rhythm is a lively and welcoming music-filled Indigenous-themed fundraiser for My Sisters' Place. My Sisters' Place provides services for individuals in Lincoln County who have experienced interpersonal violence. Awake to Rhythm is an opportunity to celebrate the beauty of Indigenous cultures, while also drawing attention to the higher levels of violence in those communities. The events during the day are free. At 10:30 AM will be an interpretive hike on the Ya'Xaik trail. At 1 PM is a weaving workshop. At 3 pm is a talk on colonization and it's effects on Indigenous communities.
For information on the hike contact Joanne at 541-961-8374.
Space is limited for the weaving workshop. To reserve a space please contact Kristy at 541-574-9424.
The doors open at 5 PM for a concert with heavy hors d'oeuvres. We start the program with drumming on the Yachats Community Drum, Yellowbear followed by Johnny Moses a Tulalip storyteller, Mary Beth Nickel and Doc Slyter, Native American flute players, and the family band Chayag from South America will close our program. In between our performers we will have a silent auction. The cost for the evening event is $20 for an individual and $25 for a family. All proceeds to benefit My Sisters' Place.
