FADE2BLACK Film Festival, Celebrating Black American Cinema 1910 -the Present
FADE2BLACK Film Festival is scheduled for October 12-14, 2017. F2B is based out of the University of Cincinnati Film and Media Studies Center and is a glimpse into the official 5 day F2BFF 2018 Premiere. Additional University support is provided by The Department of African American Studies and The Office of Diversity.
Preview attendees will catch a variety of films ranging from award winning PBS documentary, MIDNIGHT RAMBLE:Oscar Micheaux & the Story of Race Movies, chronicling the birth of African American Film, produced by BFMM & F2BFF Founder, Pam Thomas to the brilliant, I AM NOT YOUR NEGRO. Friday the 13th from 9AM until 2PM is primarily devoted to Middle and High School students, with a special program on the Black Cowboy in Film and various early race movie shorts. Saturday events include a Production Master Class and the Cincinnati Premiere of Cut My Hair, Barber by filmmaker Patrick James Thomas with more discussion & panels. An inaugural program, On The Other Side: Black Women Behind the Camera is co-sponsored by Women In Film, Cincinnati, and the Cincinnati Film Society. Our featured participants are noted LA filmmaker, radio & TV personality & film historian, Tanya Hart; incomparable LA based filmmaker, Carol Munday-Lawrence, & local filmmaker, Davi Davis. Additionally, Friday night features, To Sleep With Anger followed by an informal panel with filmmaker Charles Burnett, Carol Munday-Lawrence & featured performer, Danny Glover.
