Brahms and Faure' | New Mexico Symphonic Chorus and New Mexico Philharmonic
New Mexico Symphonic Chorus and New Mexico Philharmonic Roger Melone, conductor
Brahms wrote his unique and powerful Four Songs in 1859-60 for the Hamburg Womens Chorus which he co-founded and conducted, drawing from poems including Shakespeares Twelfth Night. His other masterwork on this program Schaffe in mir weaves through pure homophony, fugue, waltz-like dance and joyful celebration. Faurés deeply moving Requiem brings consummate craftsmanship and grace together with intense spirituality to close the concert.
