Description: Artists usually want their work to speak for itself, but how you present your work on paper is often what separates artists who win awards and receive shows from the ones who don't. In this workshop, Tri-Cities-based artist Greg Pierce will discuss how to successfully present your work, including artist statements, artist resumes, cover letters, and how to use them to apply for regional, national, and international grants and residencies.
Instructor bio:
Gregory Pierce is a studio artist and most recently became Chair of the Fine Art Department at Heritage University in Toppenish, Washington. Previous to living in the Pacific Northwest, he has worked in art studios and residencies in New York, Texas, Massachusetts, Maine, and California, as well as participating in collaborative projects overseas in Norway, Russia, Sweden, and Ecuador.
In addition to being a member of Gallery 110 in Seattle, Greg regularly exhibits regionally and nationally. He most recently collaborated with students at Columbia Basin College to create an installation on the waterfront for the National Education of Ceramic Arts conference in Seattle titled Origins of Mud and Mind. Another outdoor installation finished in 2009 titled Cascading Core Stratigraphies, was created in collaboration with National Park Service scientists, staff, and Student Conservation Corps volunteers. The piece linked the geology, natural processes, and cultural legacy found in the North Cascades National Park in Washington State.
Cancellations and Refunds
Artist Trust reserves the right to cancel any program. If cancelled, a full refund will be applied. If a participant needs to cancel for a paid program, the following policy will apply:
A full refund can be issued through Brown Paper Tickets if notified 5 days prior to the program date.
A transfer credit of equal or lesser value can be issued (through Artist Trust) if notified within 48 hours of program. Credit will be valid for up to 12 months.
Artist Trust cannot provide refunds for missed classes. Please contact the coordinator if you have any questions regarding specific content of the workshop.
These refund policies are in place because workshops have limited space and this is intended to ensure we are able to offer the space to another attendee if notice is provided far enough in advance.
