Black & White Night Reenactment
On September 30, 1987, Roy Orbison performed his legendary 'Black & White Night" concert at Coconut Grove in Los Angeles. The 'backup' band included such celebrities as Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, Bruce Bruce Springsteen, K.D. Lang, Jennifer Warnes, and Bonnie Raitt. A host of VIPs such as Billy Idol, Patrick Swayze, Sandra Bernhard, and Kris Kristofferson made up the audience.
On October 28th, Klehm Arboretum will host a Halloween-season Black & White Night" recreation with the Trinadora Rocks! band. Ron Holm will sing Roys songs, and Jannie Nelson, Tim Austin, and John Bishoff channel Patsy Cline, Buddy Holly, Paul McCartney, Julie London, and a host of other stars. Klehms Visitor Center will echo with the sounds of even more celebrities than Coconut Grove did 30 years ago. Light snacks, full cash bar, comfortable listening accommodations, and a fine dance floor will round out the night. Costumes encouraged!
Admission: $15, $20 at the door if any tickets are left.
