Endless Oceans
Endless Oceans is inspired by true events from Corey's life about denial, control, and the search for authentic relationships and faith inside fundamentalist evangelicalism. Corey plays a total of 13 characters over the course of the play and interacts with the audience and her environment, speaking both Latin and Christianese in her search for identity.
Corey Maier (playwright and actor) graduated from Baylor University with a BFA in Theatre Performance. After college, Corey moved to Portland, OR to apprentice with Portland Playhouse. Some eclectic things Corey has done since her apprenticeship include trying to become a nurse, having a huge existential crisis, working at a grocery store, and writing this play. She's super happy to be in Portland for the summer doing the work she loves. Corey is excited to share her story with you in hopes that youll laugh at and with her (and maybe a little at yourself, too).
Molly Shevaun Reed's (director and stage manager) work in Portland includes Spectravagasm X (stage manager) and The Few (assistant director, PA). Dallas credits include directing the world premiere of Nomad Americana by Kira Rockwell at the Out of the Loop Fringe Festival, after helping develop it under the title Rooting with the help of Nouveau 47; and stage managing for Upstart Productions. She earned her BFA from Baylor University in 2014. Molly also enjoys teaching theatre to tweens, the fiction of Flannery O'Connor, and hanging out with her corgi mutt Bear.
